I second the orthotics advice -- a good friend of mine with serious foot issues who LOVES shoes a la Mrs. Figby swears by them. Also, when I was recuperating from my illness, I had weird foot issues. The only shoes I could wear were Eccos -- they have great support and are light as a feather. Maybe Naots or Eccos with orthotics is the answer?

My friend also HATES socks, like you. It's ok. There are others among you. I

I'm sorry. This sounds really hard. I have some unsolicited adviceish comments. I have rheumatoid arthritis and Naot shoes are great for me. And cute too! You do want to do what you have to to keep from having to wear true orthopedic shoes. There are no cute ones. I have a friend who has broken her foot twice due to RA deformities, and has to wear them, and they are all ugly. (There's a market there that someone should address.) I remember once you said (years ago) that you might have RA. Did they decide that you didn't? Cause if there's some of that going on, meds might help.

Anyway, I second the comments suggesting looking into orthotics, etc.

"will get better or it won't" - Bah! What do doctors learn in medical school, anyway? My daughter's doc just said this about her allergies, although he gave us three options: could get better, could get worse, or (wait for it...) could stay the same.
