No room up front and couldn't see out the tiny windows. You could learn to drive a manual, and you would love it. Really, it is so much fun. But I am trying to remember which foot you broke? The only downside was that pieces of trim randomly and frequently fell off, both inside and out, but hey, who needs trim? Anyway, way to get what you want girl! THAT'S how people make marriages work. We had a manual Jetta of about the same vintage (1991, actually) and it was very zippy and fun and still running when we sold it last year with eleventy-gazillion miles on it. Otherwise, HANDS OFF. (I also don't drive his--mainly because it's about a kajillion times less nice than mine and is a total trash-mobile.)
