Mom. Wife. Librarian. Liberal. Yarn Junkie. Tired.
I’m still here. I have had an incredible week and am utterly exhausted, physically and mentally. Am writing from my friend Danielle’s incredibly cute townhouse near D.C. and waiting for Natalie to come pick me up so we can go to brunch and talk each other’s ears off before I fly home and see my girls and Mark (Kev is back with his mom’s family so I won’t see him again for another two weeks).
It’s been really hard being away from them; harder than I expected, actually. But I was so incredibly busy that I didn’t think about it too much except at night, when I called to tell the girls good night and Mimi asked, every night, “when are you coming home, mommy?” and Boo tried to crawl into the speaker on the phone and figure out where the hell I was and why the heck wasn’t I there for crying out loud. And I think Mark is pretty frazzled and ready to be part of a two-parent household again.
Yesterday Danielle and Jenny and I were out ALL DAY in D.C. being freaking tourists; we went to the zoo and saw the pandas (eeeeeee!) and then hit Air & Space and the Natural History museum, with a stop in between at a fricking awesome Jim Henson exhibit (I’m going to go back and put the links in when I get home because I am too freaking tired to look them up now). Suffice it to say we did not stop singing the Fraggle Rock theme song all night. And actually have not yet stopped this morning — I can hear Danielle whistling it right now in the shower. Heh. (Clap clap).
I think Natalie is here. More later.
Mimi is my oldest daughter; Boo is the youngest. Mimi was adopted; Boo was a surprise. I also have a husband, a teenage stepson, a dog, a cat, a full-time job, a part-time craft obsession, and never enough money. I spend far too much time on the internets and can often be found on Facebook, Ravelry, or the Tarflies forums. My craft (mainly crochet) blog is at Yarn Over and my etsy store is Mimi & Boo..
